Fellow Kingfish
Fans,
Hopefully everyone
had their chlorine fix over the weekend. Both meets went
extremely well and that’s the direct result of hard work by
the swimmers, coaches, and the families—Thanks!

MEET RESULTS
Results for the
Long Distance meet and new team records are
here.
Results of the Northern and Southern Meets will be merged
for final Championship results. Results for the Pentathlon
will be posted when they are received.
LOST AND FOUND
If your swimmer left something at
the pool please check with the Ramstein Pool Staff. They
are building quite a collection of lost items and I’m sure
they would like to have some of it found.
VOLUNTEERS
To all of
those who volunteered at both meets this weekend—THANKS!
Pentathlons are especially tough because of the number of
timers and lap counters—you did great!
VOLUNTEER HOURS
Will be posted on
the website this week. As a reminder, Volunteer Volunteers
(as in coordinators) are Dave and Amy Hammond (vahamm2003@yahoo.com)
PARENT MEETING
The December
Parent meeting will be 1800, 18 December at the Ramstein
Community Center, Building 412.
TEAM PICTURES
Our crack team of
photo maniacs will be taking individual and team pictures
in the near future. I’ll send out a notice when we get the
time confirmed.
GAME DAYS—Please send all
responses to Alyssa Cummin (jmsix@earthlink.net)
Attention all
swimmers!!!
Game
Days
have been confirmed!!!
They will be held at
the Monte
Mare from 5:00-8:00.
But that’s not all!
For the first
Game
Day,
which is on
the first
Friday of December (the 5th), the team captains
will be giving out goodie bags to
all the
swimmers who have
birthdays from September to December!!!
Don’t worry if you
weren’t
born in those months because on the second swim date, which
is the third Friday
of January
(the 16th), we will be handing out goodie bags to
all the swimmers who have
birthdays
from January to August!!!
Since we do not have all
the birthdays of every
swimmer
memorized we will need you to R.S.V.P. and include the
name(s) of your kid(s)
who has his/her birthday and which
Game Day
it falls on. Thanks for your
cooperation
and we hope
to see you all there!!!!
~ Team
Captains
Alyssa,
Blake,
Kristen,
and
Steven.
MEET RESULTS
Go here to see the meet
results for the 13 Sep meet. Here’s a quick tutorial
for reading the meet results:
Example:
32.03S BB F # 11B Girls 15-16 50 Free 1
6 -0.31
1:11.18S BB F # 27B Girls 15-16 100 Free 1
6 1.59
1:30.15S BB F # 31B Girls 15-16 100 Breast 1
6 1.46
Using this example,
the first times shown are finals times. These are the actual
times swum for each event. The BB is a time standard. Our
EFSL qualification times (click
here to view) are set as BB times. The F is for female,
the event number is next followed by the event name. The
column showing the “1” is the finishing place (1st or 2nd,
etc…) The next column shows points earned for the team for
each event. The final column shows the difference between
the finals time and the seed time. A negative time shows
that the swimmer swam a faster time (the swimmer dropped .31
seconds in her first event) while a positive number
indicates how much time a swimmer added to their seed time.
HOW
TO KNOW WHEN YOUR SWIMMER IS SWIMMING
The order of events is
listed in the Heat Sheet which is produced by the host team
statistician. Not all meets have these available for
spectators, but they are usually posted in a prominent
location.
When Coach sends the
swimming assignments, they are listed by number and the
event (age, sex, distance, stroke). Look for the event
number on the heat sheet,. They are listed numerically.
Under the event number will be a list of heats and what
swimmers are in each heat. Lanes are listed as well.
However, lanes can be changed due to scratches and combined
heats.
POOL
RULES
Here
is a copy of the pool rules for Ramstein. Parents of
swimmers under the age of ten may share deck responsibility
for up to 6 swimmers, BUT do not assume someone on deck will
watch your child. It is very important to ensure the parent
and your child understand they are buddied up.
We had several
instances of swimmers running on deck this weekend. We also
had several instances of swimmers and spectators eating on
deck. Please ensure your swimmer understands that neither
should be occurring. And set a good example for the kids by
not eating on deck.
ORDERING TEAM WEAR FROM LANDS END
Thanks to Terrie
Shortsleeve for re-establishing our team relationship with
Lands End. She provides ordering information below.
Here is the website:
http://www.landsend.com/school
Shop the school store.
There are departments for Boys, Girls, Women and Men. The
easiest way to access the store is to go to the Search box
and put in "School Women" or "School Girl", etc. Then it
will bring up all the items available in that school store.
Most of the items are under "Active wear".
Once you find an item,
enter the "Preferred School Code". Our code is 900123274
and gets the Kingfish Logo embroidered on that item. The
cost of having the logo embroidered on anything is $8.10.
Be sure to check the size
charts before ordering. Lands End clothes tend to run a
little big. They don't shrink and I've never owned anything
from them that has faded with repeated washings.
Some people were asking
about my cap. I did not get that from the school store. I
went to the regular side of Lands End and ordered this cap
in Classic Navy/Red (there is a $5 charge for the
monogramming):
http://www.landsend.com/pp/WashedTwillSandwichBillCap~161318_-1.html?bcc=y&action=order_more&sku_0=::CVR&CM_MERCH=SRCH_00001&origin=search
You click on the
"Monogram It" box and it will give you a place to select the
monogramming.
I checked "Word", then
"continue to Step 2".
There, I chose my style
(Block Name), location and clicked on "continue to Step 3"
and then entered "Kingfish" in the box and clicked "Apply
Monogram".
I clicked "Add to Bag".
A little dialog box
popped up and said the hat had been added to my Shopping
Bag.
I clicked on "Go to
Shopping Bag".
Under the options to
"Keep Shopping" or "Proceed to Checkout" is a place to click
on "optional order instructions".
I asked them to please do the
monogramming on the cap in red instead of blue. They did it
with no problems.
RUMOR CONTROL
If you hear one, just
ask me and I'll get you the right answer. Here's a
